From ancient civilizations to the modern era, the powerful influence of eye has strongly grasped the human imagination from thousands of years.

Concept of Evil Eye:

To understand the concept of evil eye or Nazar e bad that which is also called Nazar-e-bad, holds strong influence upon every creature. Basically, a blue eye amulet is often called the ‘evil eye’. However, its purpose is to ward off the evil eye. It is believed that the evil eye of an enemy can cause ‘look’.

In common words, basically believeing in the evil eye and its possible effects is not a very complicated concept. It stems from the belief that when a person achieves great success or fame, he also attracts the envy from his surroundings. This envy leads to harm his fortune.

But when did the use of such amulets start?

Istanbul-based art history professor Dr Neshay Yildaran tells BBC Culture that ‘the earliest form of amulets to ward off the evil eye dates back to 3,300 BC.’

Plutarch illustrates this by saying that some groups south of the Black Sea use the evil eye. However, it is also believed that those with blue eyes have the ability to mesmerize.

Belief in the evil eye isn’t something superstitious, it is considered as an undeniable reality in many sects globally.

According to latest research, human eye has the power to emit invisible rays of energy that are powerful enough to kill children or small animals.

The theory is quite common that some people have a more powerful sight that is capable of causing harm. However, it is not always necessary to have a bad look for someone.

Elworthy, for example, cites an ancient Polish folk tale about a man whose eyes were so powerful and haunted that he cut out his own eyes to protect his loved ones from bad fortune.


Practices, Rituals and Powerful Duas For Protection Against Nazar-e-bad:

The belief is widespread that an evil glance from someone can bring you disastrous misfortune. But it is not surprising that the people of these ancient civilizations also found a solution to it, which led to the initiation of rituals and wave off the impact of evil eye. Those practices and rituals are still used by people today.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “In my Ummah, after the Book of Allah, its decrees and destiny, the largest number of people die from the effects of evil eyes.” 

Nazar Bad is one of the remains of the dawn of civilization that points to some of humanity’s most enduring and profound beliefs. Wearing an amulet without such knowledge can not only render its protective abilities useless, but can cause even more powerful harm, if that’s really something you believe.

There are some specific actions, practices and Nazar-e-bad duas that needs to be considered in order to stay protected against the impact of evil eyes.

Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,”Evil eyes, Nazar-e-bad are truth. It can shake the mountain.”

  1. No matter how severe evil eyes are, if one recites verse 51 of Surah Al-Qalam 11 times, then he will Insha.allah be cured with the help of this nazar-e-bad dua.
  2. There is a Greek myth to seek help from Allah (SWT) in silence, because disclosing the task before its completion causes obstacles in your success.
  3. Avoid expressing your success or blessings publicly to everyone, because the state of envy can deprive your blessing causing physical or spiritual diseases due to the impact of Nazar-e-bad, the evil eye.
  4. Sometimes you share the favours and blessings showered upon you by the Allah Almighty to give courage to the other person, but instead of that, it arises the sense of deprivation and regret in his eyes which leads to fear harm.
  5. A very common practice that each one of us attempts in his life these days, uploading family pictures and specially of your children  on different social media platforms. Do you know how many infertile men and women are glancing at your child worldwide? This can be the worst regret which can God forbid lead to incurable illness or disasters. Most of the time, things become incurable and it can be disastrous trauma for the whole family. Therefore, avoid sharing your valuable treasures for temporary enjoyment and ruining your happiness in vein after acquiring the sights of grief, envy and sorrows.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Evil eyes can make a healthy person enter the grave and a camel enters the pit.”

  • Similarly, refrain from posting pictures of the luxurious food, affects each mind and stomach, posting to show off your home, children, cars and success may can lead to ruin your happy world. Be careful!
  • Imam Sharii said, ‘ the person who takes regular bath early in the morning is protected against magic and evil eyes.
  • Hazrat Imam Jafar Sadiq said, “If the graves were made open for you, you would find that many people had died due to the evil eyes. So, nazar-e-bad dua, whoever likes something good from a brother, if he says Allahu Akbar, there will be no harm. Evil eyes are real.

In addition to this, there are many tips, rituals, practices and nazar-e-bad duas that are practiced in since ancient times, and regular benefits can be witnessed. But it is pointless to demand proofs, for the bad eyesight is treated with mantras written in different languages, and this also benefits the patients, but such mantras etc. are in the experience of people. However,  if there is no If there is a shirkiya word or any words that are contrary to Sharia or have unknown meanings, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade it. May you be protected from evil death. There are many prayers or dua s to get protected like Surah Yaseen. Muslim read Surah Yaseen in the Morning to get protected from evils all day long.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,”Evil eye is true. If something were to take precedence over destiny, it would be evil eye.”
