Namaz Janaza Dua With English Translation:
Introduction To Funeral Prayer (Namaz-e-Janaza):
The method of funeral is very simple and easy. Sometimes because of not learning or not understanding the process of Namaz e Janaza properly, people remain confused and sometimes they keep looking at the next person even during funeral Salah whether he raises his hands or not; whether he calls Takbeerat or not and the same thing happens during Eid salah as well.
Anyway, let me share the appropriate funeral method with all the muslims reading this article.
Basics of Funeral Prayer:
While performing funeral Salah, there are two basis Fard to remember. These are the very important pillars of Salah. One of the two pillars is Qiyam that is standing and the other is calling four Takbeerat (Allah- o-Akbar).
- Now these two elements are called Fard.
- And now three things are Muakkadah Sunan. I mean when the first Takbeer is called, recite Sana. After the second Takbeer, we recite Salat.
- After the third Takbeer, recite funeral supplication that is the supplication of deceased.
- Now, if it is the funeral Salah of a non-adult boy, there is a specific supplication for him.
- Similarly, if the funeral Salah is for a non-adult girl, there is a different supplication.
Therefore, the basic elements in funeral Salah are Qiyam that is standing and calling four Takbeerat. People think that probably, only the Imam calls Takbeerat and Muqtadis recite Sana.
Salat is a supplication but they don’t call Takbeerat.
Remember, if a Muqtadi does not call Takbeerat, his Salah will not be valid to acceptance. Because the Faraid of funeral Salah are only these two things, Qiyam and Takbeerat.
Hence, whenever you offer funeral Salah, as soon as the Imam calls out Allah-o-Akbar, you should also call ‘Allah o Akbar’ after him. Now, let’s have a glance at the funeral salah and Namaz e Janaza ki dua.
I intend to offer four-Takbeer funeral Salah Fard Kifayah for Allah almighty while facing the Holy Kaba behind the imam while uttering Allah u Akbar.
We will fold our arms but during funeral salah, we will not raise our hands for any takbeer but we will utter Takbeer.
When we recite sana and in sana, if we add
وجل ثنا ک ولاالہ غیرک
After
وتعلی جدک.
It is also better and if we recite only the sana of regular salah, even then the Sunnah will be valid.
Then, the second takbeer will be called but we will not raise our hands. Allah u Akbar, this the second takbeer. Now recite Durood Ibrahim. Then the third Takbeer will be called Allahu akbar. Now we will recite funeral supplication.
اللم اغفرلحینا ومیتنا
For an adult or an adult woman. If there is a non-adult boy, we will recite supplication for a non adult boy and if there is a non adult girl, we will recite the supplication for a non-adult girl. And when we recite this, the fourth takbeer will be called Allah u Akbar. And after that, we will open both arms and perform Salaam to the right and the left.
When fourth takbeer is called, many people perform salam to one side,
اسلام علیکم و رحمۃ اللہ
And open one arm and then they perform salaam to the other side
اسلام علیکم و رحمۃ اللہ
And then they open the other arm. It is not like this. When you have called the fourth takbeer, do this. When the fourth takbeer is called, open both arms.
If you learn and understand this method well, I don’t think you will become confused and have a problem in funeral salah.
Point to Remember:
And let me also share the point that if an Islamic brother doesn’t remember the funeral supplication; we should memorize it. Try to recite the relevant supplication in its time. But if we don’t remember the supplication, it is allowed to recite a masurah supplication i.e. the supplication which is quoted in the Holy Quran and hadith. I mean
ربنا اتنافی الدنیا حسنۃ، ربنا اغفرلی ولوالدی وللمومنین یوم یقوم الحساب
Similarly, it is also allowed to recite surah Fatihah with the intention of supplication. It is not allowed to recite it with the intention of Holy Quran. Hence, the summary is that in funeral salah, two things are Fard that is Qiyam and fourth takbeerat. And then three things ahead which means reciting sana, salat and funeral supplications are muakkadah sunan. This funeral salah is complete.
What is the Parent’s Responsibility for the Funeral Prayer?:
We as parents’ completely understand that we must own the responsibility to give our children the best and the most expensive education in the world. On the other hand, unfortunately, most of the parents’ are least bothered to teach the shortest act of religion like the funeral prayer and funeral dua that is Namaz e Janaza ki dua, which is barely less than two vows.
After the death of their parents, they should stand over their dead bodies and should be confident enough to recite and say only two words of forgiveness for their parents. So that the are not deprived of their children’s prayers for forgiveness.
In a Nutshell:
One who attends funeral prayers depicts that he is not only offering for the dead but also in the state of sorrow with the bereaved family and friends. This creates an atmosphere of mutual brotherhood and unity in the society.
That’s the reason why funeral prayer and namaz e Janaza ki dua strengthen the belief in death and the hereafter.
One day the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever attends the funeral of a believer until it is offered, there is a reward of one Qiraat for him, and whoever attends the burial, there is a reward of two Qiraat. The Companions of the Holy Prophet(S.A.W) inquired, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is Qiraat called?’ The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) said, ‘two big mountains’. It is known from another tradition of Bukhari Sharif that Qiraat refers to Uhad mountain.
